Downloading Copyrighted Stuff From the Internet

At the click of a mouse, computer-savvy people can download all kinds of material, songs, movies, games, and software, from the Internet, but if what they're downloading is copyrighted, its use can be against the law. Author Sherri Mabry Gordon explains how file-sharing works as well as what's fair and what's not.

While the title would lead many librarians to expect information based on the issues of copyright for students, a majority of the title is focused on the technology of downloading and peer-to-peer (P2P) networks. The book is limited to the issue of downloading music and video and does not address any of the limitations of using downloaded materials in educational products. Students researching this topic would be better served with more current magazine and database sources. Not Recommended., Library Media Connection posted online
